Old Plant, New Growth
New Growth. Old Growth. Same Plant. 🌱
I was looking at this plant today and noticed the contrast.
The new leaves are bright green, glossy, clean and full of potential.
The older leaves are faded. Some are scarred. Some have brown spots. They’ve been through a little more.
But the plant needs both.
It made me think about a city.
New neighborhoods get built. New homes go up. New families move in. Everything looks fresh and exciting.
Meanwhile, the older homes remain. They have imperfections. They’ve weathered storms, changing seasons and years of use.
A healthy city doesn’t have to choose between the two.
New and old have to coexist.
The new growth represents where we’re going.
The old growth reminds us how we got here.
And sometimes the leaves that don’t look perfect are the ones that helped the plant survive long enough to produce the beautiful new ones.
Growth doesn’t always mean replacing what came before.
Sometimes it means making room for what’s next while respecting what’s already there.
🌿 New leaves. Old leaves. One plant.
🏡 New homes. Old homes. One community.
There’s room for both.
